House, factory break-in gang busted

BALIK PULAU: Police smashed a housebreaking gang known as "Geng Yus Bumbung" allegedly responsible for 35 house and factory break-in cases in several Penang districts since early this year.
Southwest district police chief Supt A. Anbalagan said three men, aged between 33 and 38, were nabbed in Taman Lip Sin and Sungai Pinang, respectively at about 5.30am on Oct 11 following a tip-off. He said two of the three suspects admitted to their crime involving 19 cases in Northeast district, 14 in Southwest district and two in South Seberang Prai.
"Losses amounting to about RM170,000 were incurred in the 35 cases," he told a press conference today.
