Japan's transport minister calls on Najib

PUTRAJAYA: Japan's Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Minister, Keiichi Ishii, today called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak at his office here.
Ishii, who is on a three-day visit to Malaysia, was accompanied by Japan's Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Makio Miyagawa.
It is learnt that at the 30-minute meeting, Najib and Ishii discussed various matters, including the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR).
The proposed HSR will cut travel time between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore to 90 minutes compared to the over four hours now by road.
The rail alignment will have several stops, including in Seremban, Ayer Keroh, Muar, Batu Pahat and Iskandar Puteri. The Singapore station will be in Jurong East.
Ishii is also scheduled to meet Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani. — Bernama
