KL and Seoul to cooperate on enhancing tourism industry

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz and first vice-mayor of Seoul Metropolitan Government Liu Gyung Gee today signed a Letter of Intent on tourism cooperation between both cities.
The Letter of Intent will focus on boosting inter-municipal relations and reinforcing mutual understanding between the two cities' tourism sector.
Mhd Amin Nordin said following the signing, both cities would conduct regular tourism exchanges, share knowledge and experiences to identify best practices on tourism-related policies aimed at enhancing the quality of each country''s tourism products and services.
He said it would also facilitate each participant's marketing and promotional activities in the other participant's country.
The signing of the LOI would also encourage participation of business communities and other tourism segments in travel marts, exhibitions, and tourism festivals, he said.
"Tourism cooperation between KL and Seoul is very welcomed as it is seen as a good partnership that will impact positively on both cities.
"Tourism is important to Kuala Lumpur as it provides a significant number of beneficial economic impact," he said in his speech at the signing ceremony, here today.
Meanwhile Liu said the LOI signing would also help Seoul to improve its tourism industry.
"Kuala Lumpur and Seoul have a long strong relationship and through the signing ceremony today it will strengthen our bond," he said. – Bernama
