KOTA KINABALU: Flash flood that hit the outskirts of Kota Kinabalu due to heavy rain today has caused a bridge over a monsoon drain at Jalan Kodundungan, Kepayan near here to collapse.
Although no untoward incident occurred to motorists, the photo of the collapsed bridge had gone viral on social media with netizens also advising the public, who frequently use the bridge, to take alternative routes.
The bridge provides Kepayan residents, especially those staying at CyberCity Apartment phases 1 and 2 in the vicinity, an alternative route to Penampang.
Penampang and Papar, about 50km from here, also experienced flash flood due to this afternoon's heavy downpour.
The Meteorological Department today issued a warning of widespread thunderstorm this afternoon with strong winds up to 50kph and rough seas with waves of up to 3.5m. — Bernama
