Malacca PPK project manager remanded for six days

MALACCA: An Area Farmers' Organisation (PPK) project manager in Malacca is being remanded for six days from today to assist in the investigation into the misappropriation of RM2.54 million from the federal government's padi fertilisation scheme.
The remand order until Nov 26 on the 38-year-old man was issued by magistrate Hurman Hussain at the Malacca Court Complex, here, for investigation under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009.
The suspect, clad in orange MACC lock-up attire and was handcuffed, had arrived at the court grounds about 11am, accompanied by the agency's officers.
Yesterday, it was reported that the suspect, attached to the Merlimau PPK in Jasin, was arrested about 3pm at the office of the state Farmers Organisation Board in Jalan Hang Tuah, here.
The arrest was made on suspicion of misappropriating 56,700 bags of fertiliser worth about RM2.54 million from the federal government's padi fertilisation scheme. — Bernama
