Man stabbed in robbery at food court

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A man was seriously injured when he was stabbed by a teenager in a robbery at a food court at Jalan Alma tonight.
Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the victim, aged 40, was stabbed in the left chest, back and left shoulder in the incident which occurred at about 8pm.
"According to a witness, the suspect, who was armed with a knife, ran after the victim from a supermarket in the area near the food court, when the older man then shouted for help.
"A few traders and patrons at the food court went to his aid and also apprehended the suspect," he said.
He said a knife was recovered from the suspect, who would be remanded for investigation under Section 394 of the Penal Code.
The victim was sent to Bukit Mertajan Hospital for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition, he added. — Bernama
