IPOH: Some 40,000 people have visited Perak's newest attraction Movie Animation Park Studio (MAPS) since it began operation on the second day of Hari Raya on June 26.
Animation Theme Park Sdn Bhd board director Ramelle Ramli said the visitors to the Bandar Meru Rayu theme park included tourists from Japan, Indonesia, China and Singapore.
Ramelle said the response had prompted the management to extend its soft opening Hari Raya promotion discounts for tickets until July 13.
The promotion was launched on June 16 and ended on July 1. The park, the first in Asia, was opened to public on June 26.
Discounts of tickets costing RM131 for adults and RM104 for children was given in conjunction with Hari Raya celebrations and will continue until July 13.
Visitors who buy tickets during the promotion period will be entitled to a complimentary ticket which is valid until Sept 30.
Normal rates are RM148 for adults and children, senior citizens, disabled (RM117) for MyKad holders while foreigners are charged RM190 and RM150 respectively.
Those who book tickets online are given further discounts.
The park has more than 40 attractions in six themed zones with the tagline "Live Your Dreams" namely Animation Square, Dream, Blast Off, Live Action, Lakeside and Fantasy Forest Zones.
Ramelle said there are two areas, The Dream Zone and the Adventurers Cartoon Factory in Animation Square Zone which is currently undergoing technical rehearsals which will be opened soon.
Among the positive feedback received is that the area is covered and visitors can move around come rain or shine.
There are several "first experiences" either in the world, Malaysia or Asia available at the latest attraction in town.
Ramelle said the Home of BoBoiBoy remains one of the main attractions for visitors, especially children.
Built on a 20.8ha site, MAPS which cost RM520 million, houses both international and homegrown Intellectual Properties (IPs) including DreamWorks characters.
