Ministerial communications contract worth RM800,000 cancelled: Loke

PUTRAJAYA: Transport Minister Anthony Loke (pix) has cancelled a ministerial communications contract worth more than RM800,000, citing the need to save expenditure.
The seven-month contract with a company Pemandu Azam Sdn Bhd which was approved by the previous minister, he said was to ensure that a weekly column by the Transport Minister appears on an English daily.
"This is public relations related work and I for one do not need such things in carrying out my duties.
"It is an unnecessary allocation and I rather save such monies in this instance," he told reporters at the Transport Ministry, here, today.
