Missing Cambodian fisherman found drowned

KUANTAN: A Cambodian migrant fisherman reported missing two days ago was found drowned near the Batu Tiga Jetty on Pulau Biawak here last night, according to the Kuantan Fire and Rescue Station.
Its chief, Kamerul Bieza Mohamed Kassim, said the body of Houen Him, 37, was found floating at 7.35 pm behind a fisherman's boat, about 20 metres from where he had reportedly fallen into the water.
"He had reportedly fallen from a fishing boat that was parked at the jetty at about 11 pm on Monday.
"Following a report received at 11.34 am yesterday, a search and rescue (SAR) operation was mounted involving a team of 38 people," he said when contacted today.
The SAR operation involved the Kuantan Fire and Rescue Station, Marine Police, Civil Defence Force and the Royal Malaysian Police.
Kamerul Bieza said the body was handed over to the police. — Bernama
