MOH considering rent-to-own approach for medical equipment
GEORGE TOWN: The Health Ministry is considering a rent-to-own approach when acquiring medical equipment for government hospitals in a bid to reduce its expenses.
Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Hilmi Yahaya said this new method will help to cut-down the ministry's expenses.
He, however, said the option was still under discussion by the ministry, and nothing had been concluded yet.
"We are still looking at it," he said after officiating "World Heart Day" at the Penang hospital today.
Hilmi also said government hospitals nationwide currently have 17 cardiology labs with an additional four centres being recently set up.
He said two centres are in Serdang Hospital, while another two are in the Penang Hospital and the Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor.
