SARIKEI, Sarawak: A motorcycle belonging to an officer of the Civil Defence Force in the Sarikei District was torched late last night, the second time someone had meddled with the machine in about three months.
Lt (PA) Mackinly Jores, who was in Kuching when contacted, said he was informed of the arson by a fellow resident of Block A of the Wisma Persekutuan Flats in Jalan Permai.
The resident had heard an explosion and found the motorcycle ablaze, he said.
“In July, someone detached a carburetor hose and stole all the fuel from my motorcycle. I believe it was the work of the same person but I do not know the motive,” said Mackinly, adding that he would lodge a police report today upon his return from Kuching.
Sarikei Fire and Rescue Station chief Suna Kahar said the station was notified of the fire at 11.25pm and when the nine fire-fighters arrived there, several residents were trying to put out the blaze.
He said the fire was put out by 11.38pm. A motorcycle parked next to Mackinly’s was damaged by the fire. — Bernama
