MQA continues cooperation with Taiwan's Heeact

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan (Heeact) announced today to continue its cooperation to perform its regulatory and quality assurance responsibilities.
MQA chief executive officer Datuk Prof Dr Rujhan Mustafa said the memorandum of agreement (MoA) signed with its counterpart was a continued partnership from 2011 when the document was first signed between the two agencies.
"Both agencies agreed to extend and continue the aforementioned for an additional term of five years, commencing on June 20 this year and expiring on June 19, 2022," he told a press conference at its headquarters here.
Heeact executive director Angela Yung-Chi Hou said Malaysian students are inclined to study business, technology, and art at the Bachelor degree level.
She added there are currently 16,051 Malaysian students studying in Taiwan, a 100% increase of 8,000 from 2011.
Rujhan said there are 122 Taiwanese students studying in both local and private universities here.
"The MQA is expected to sign up with South Africa and Japan within the year," he added.
