KUALA LUMPUR: Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) accepts the government's decision to scrap the MRT Line 3 project but hopes it will reconsider reviving the project once the country's fiscal position improves.
Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar said the MRT Line 3 project was critical to close all the loops and complete the rail system.
"It is not a mistake to cancel it now but it still needs to be done in the future," he told reporters after meeting with the Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) today.
When asked on Line 3's progress, he said it was still in the planning stage and nothing was on the ground yet.
Today, the CEP was also scheduled to meet with Prokhas Sdn Bhd Managing Director and Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Bhd Principal Officer Dr Nungsari Ahmad Radhi, HSS Engineers Bhd Executive Vice Chairman Tan Sri Kuna Sittampalam, HSS Engineers CEO Datuk Ir Nitchianathan Balasubramaniam, HSS Engineers Director Datuk Ir Khairudin Sidek and Prasarana Malaysia Bhd President and Group CEO Masnizam Hisham. — Bernama
