Musa not in position to order Sabah AG to intervene: Mohd Shafie

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said Tan Sri Musa Aman was not in a position to direct the state's Attorney-General to intervene in the Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas)' legal application on right to country's petroleum resources.
He said Musa, who is also Sungai Sibuga assemblyman was no longer the chief minister of Sabah.
Mohd Shafie said he had advised the state AG to keep an ear to the ground and abreast of the Petronas lawsuit to ensure that Sabah received updates on the case as the state has similar interests with Sarawak.
According to him, the Sabah government would embark on another approach in handling the issue.
"More importantly, I have mentioned our interest and explained it to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as well as other top leaders in Pakatan Harapan.
"What the Sabahans want is very clear. I want to fulfil what they want," he told reporters after attending the special session of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly here today.
Mohd Shafie was asked to comment on news reports that Musa had ordered the state AG to intervene in the national oil company's application for a declaration on the Petroleum Development Act 1974.
Musa in his statement had also said it was to safeguard Sabah's oil and mineral resources. — Bernama
