PETALING JAYA: Market regulators have assured investors that trading went on as usual yesterday following an alleged recent cyberattack that led to disruptions in online stock trading at several securities firms.
The disruptions were believed to be a form of distributed denial of service, according to media reports.
The Securities Commission and Bursa Malaysia said in a joint statement yesterday that they are working closely with the National Security Council (NSC) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to manage any potential cyber security incidents.
The NSC is responsible for managing and coordinating the implementation of policies related to the security of Malaysia.
The SC and Bursa Malaysia emphasised that the management of cyber security risk remains a high priority and all brokers have been advised to remain vigilant.
Investors who experience difficulty accessing any online trading services are urged to immediately contact their respective brokers or contact Bursa 2U at telephone number 03-27320067.
