PETALING JAYA: The opening of MRT Sungai Buloh – Kajang Line will rid away the headaches faced by the public whenever they plan to head to Kuala Lumpur's busiest district, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak said.
He said those heading to Bukit Bintang need not have to think anymore about the high travelling cost, parking, and traffic jams.
"Now, people of Kajang, Damansara, Sungai Buloh, TTDI, and Bandar Utama can ride the MRT and head there straight away.
"Kajang to Bukit Bintang will only take 33 minutes at the price of RM3.80. While from Bandar Utama, it is only 21 minutes at RM3," he said in a Facebook posting yesterday.
Najib in the past few days had been active in promoting the new mode of public transportation on social media, with many of his posts ending with the hashtag "JomNaikMRT" (Let's ride the MRT).
In an earlier posting, the prime minister had called on the public to experience for themselves travelling in the new MRT line.
"The world-class public transportation system, the Sungai Buloh - Kajang MRT will be fully operational from 4pm on July 17, 2017. Experience for yourself the sophistication of the MRT from Monday," he said.
Najib is scheduled to launch the second phase of the SBK line for the train, covering 51km, tomorrow.
The second phase of the SBK line comprises 19 new stations with seven of them being underground.
Each train for the line has four coaches and can accommodate 1,200 passengers each journey, with an estimated 400,000 commuters each day.
