IPOH: The unrecorded leave up to seven days for civil servants to look after their bedridden or terminally ill parents outlined in the Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto is regarded as a 'bonus' for the group.
The good news was welcomed by an administrative assistant, Mohd Fauzi Radzali, 33, who usually had to apply for annual leave to go back to his hometown and look after his ailing mother.
"We as civil servants are looking forward to this. It is so meaningful. If I often take annual leave, I think it will be not fair for others, who also want to go on holidays," he told Bernama here today.
Assistant administrative officer Intan Suri Suria Noor Mohd Johari, 38, said the pledge was a tribute and welfare initiative for civil servants.
"Taking care old and ailing parents is a good deed, in fact, Islam also teaches us to be kind to our parents. When BN puts the unpaid leave in the manifesto, surely all parents and children will be happy and thankful for having a caring government," she said.
For Izzah Azri Hamidon, 27, the unpaid leave clearly proved that the government was always concerned about the people's needs. — Bernama
