Police detain 19 individuals for drug offences in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: Police detained 19 individuals including two women for narcotic offences in an operation code-named 'Operasi Sarang' at Kampung Puyut near here, early this morning.
Lahad Datu district police chief, ACP Hamzah Ahmad said in the operation at 2am, police also seized 41.22 grams of Syabu type of drugs valued at RM2,960.
"The individuals were detained under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, Section 39A(2), Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the same act," he said in a statement, here today.
Hamzah said that 13 of the 19 individuals detained also did not possess valid self-identification documents.
He said all the suspects were aged 20 years and above and were taken to the Lahad Datu District Police Headquarters (IPD) for further investigation.
The operation that ended at 3am was participated by 89 police personnel and staff from the Immigration Department. — Bernama
