Remand on babysitter extended for seven days

KUALA LUMPUR: The Selayang magistrate's court here today extended for another seven days the remand order on a woman in connection with the death of a five-month-old baby, Adam Rayqal Mohd Sufi.
The extension of remand order issued by Magistrate Nurul Izzah Hasan Basri will start tomorrow until July 17.
The 33-year-old babysitter and another woman, aged 36, were remanded for a week last Wednesday to facilitate investigations into the death of the baby. Their remand period will end today.
Police confirmed that the 36-year-old woman would be released on police bail today.
The boy was reported missing from the babysitter's house last Tuesday. His body was found in the freezer compartment of the fridge at the house by the police, late at night.
A post-mortem at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital revealed that Adam Rayqal had died due to severe head injuries from blunt force trauma. — Bernama
