Remand for Selangor PKR youth leader extended four days

PUTRAJAYA: The remand period for a Selangor PKR youth leader has been extended four days starting tomorrow until April 22 to facilitate investigations into allegations of his extraordinary wealth.
Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahman issued the remand order following the submission of the application for extension by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in the Magistrate's Court, here today.
The 28 year-old man who has title of 'Datuk' is being investigated under Section 14 (1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act, 2001.
Wearing the orange lock-up attire and with the hands cuffed, the man was taken to the Magistrate's Court here at 9.18am by MACC officers.
The PKR Youth leader was arrested while he was at the MACC headquarters here on April 13 to give a statement in connection with the investigation.
He came into the limelight after the media reported about his alleged extraordinary wealth, which include bungalows worth millions of ringgit and several luxury cars, despite holding the PKR post only recently.
Following media reports, Ampang Umno division chief Datuk Ismail Kijo lodged a report with the MACC. — Bernama
