Ringgit opens marginally lower against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit extended yesterday’s losses to open marginally lower against US dollar today on lack of demand for the local currency, a dealer said.
At 9.10am, the local unit was quoted at 4.2690/2720 against the greenback from Thursday’s close of 4.2670/2700.
Against a basket of major currencies, the ringgit traded mixed.
It weakened against the Singapore dollar to 3.0863/0896 from 3.0853/0886 yesterday and depreciated versus the Yen to 3.8788/8822 from 3.8745/8776 on Thursday.
The local unit appreciated to 5.4366/4417 from 5.5219/5262 versus the British pound and rose against the Euro to 4.7727/7774 from 4.7923/7973 yesterday. — Bernama
