Singaporean fined RM10,000 for obstructing immigration officer

PONTIAN: A Singaporean was convicted for obstructing an Immigration Department officer from carrying out his duties at a session court here today.
Quek Chin Fern, 42, was accused of being rude to the officer while she was being processed at the exit lane of the Sultan Iskandar CIQ (second link) in Gelang Patah on Aug 12 at 3.30pm.
Session court judge Salawati Djambari said the defense had failed to prove reasonable doubt in this case and meted out the maximum fine RM10,000 or in default of six months imprisonment.
The judge also acquitted and discharged Quek’s son Miguel Lim, 19 and daughter Cheryl Lim, 18 of the same charge.
The trio were represented by lawyer Hassan Karim while DPP Noridayu Md Kassim prosecuted.
