Tanjung Manis incumbent announces not contesting in GE14

SIBU: The incumbent for Tanjung Manis parliamentary constituency, Datuk Norah Abdul Rahman from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) today announced that she will not defend her seat in the 14th General Election (GE14) on May 9.
"I have met with YAB Sarawak Chief Minister (Datuk Patinggi Dr Abang Johari Tun Openg) and (Deputy Chief Minister) YB D.A Awg Tengah and have requested to take a rest in the coming GE for health reasons," she said through her Facebook account, Norah Abd Rahman.
"Thank you for all the support given to me all this time and I hope all parties can accept my decision," said Norah, 59, who is the daughter of former Sarawak Yang Dipertua Negeri and Chief Minister, the late Tun Abdul Rahman Yakub
In the 13th General Election, Norah won the seat with a majority of 10,964 votes in a straight fight against Jurina Mut of PAS, who lost her deposit. — Bernama
