Terengganu flood situation improves, Pahang landslide clearing works continue

KUALA TERENGGANU: The flood situation in Terengganu is improving with 805 or less people comprising 188 families staying at seven evacuation centres in four districts, compared to 878 from 202 families, last night.
'Info Banjir' reported that the number of affected residents in Kuala Nerus had dropped to 701 (162 families), from 761 (172 families) last night, but remained the highest.
The residents are staying at three centres, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kompleks Gong Badak (658 people); SK Tok Jiring (22); and SK Bukit Nenas (21).
Terengganu Civil Defence Force director Lieutenant Col Che Adam A Rahman said Marang recorded a decrease to 39 (11 families) from 52 (15 ), who are sheltered at SK Bukit Gasing and SK Pasir Putih, while in Dungun, the number remained at 33 (eight families) who are staying at Dewan Sivik Paka.
As for Setiu District, the number remained at 32 (seven families) who are staying at Surau Kampung Nyatoh, he said.

Meanwhile, in Raub, Pahang, 71 people from 19 families are still staying at three evacuation centres.
Pahang Civil Defence Force director Zainal Yusoff said 35 of the 71, from 10 families were being sheltered at Balai Raya Kampung Ulu Sungai while 26 (seven families), at Balairaya Kuala Semantan and 10 others comprising two families, at Surau RRM Cheroh 3.
According to him, the operation to clear the road stretching four kilometres to Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Kelit, Raub which was rendered inaccessible by a landslide at 3am yesterday would be continued today.
He said food aid to the 71 residents in the village would be delivered today. — Bernama
