Terengganu records over 10,000 participants in KL2017 Torch Run
KEMAMAN: Terengganu recorded more than 10,000 participants in the Kuala Lumpur 2017 (KL2017) Torch Run held in the state in conjunction with the 29th SEA Games.
State Youth and Sports Department deputy director Mohamad Mazlan Anis said Terengganu held the torch run for the longest duration – nine days, from July 16 till today.
"After this, the torch will head to Pahang from today until July 30, and subsequently to Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
"The six-kilometre run (today) which began from the Kemaman District and Land Office ended at the Terengganu-Pahang border. Among the notable participants of the run today was national triple-jump and long-jump legend Mohd Zaki Sadri, who came on to give support," he told reporters here today.
Earlier, the torch carried by Air Putih assemblyman Wan Abdul Hakim Wan Mokhtar was handed over to Pahang's representative, Panching assemblyman Datuk Mohd Zaili Besar, accompanied by loud cries of "Bangkit Bersama" (Rising Together) by participants. — Bernama
