GEORGE TOWN: Some 26 areas around in Batu Maung, Permatang Damar Laut and Permatang Tepi Laut, near here will face scheduled water supply disruption on Saturday due to pipeline diversion works to upgrade roads in these areas.
Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) chief executive officer Datuk Jaseni Maidinsa said the 12-hour water supply disruption from 9am would involve 40,000 consumers.
"The existing 600-mm water pipe diversion is to enable the P10 Works Department Road upgrading works from Batu Maung to Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah," he said in a statement here today.
He said among the affected areas are Batu Maung Aquarium, Pen Mutiara Restaurant, Batu Maung Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority, Diamond Valley Industrial Area, Batu Maung Highway, National Instrument (M) Sdn Bhd, Batu Maung MAS Cargo Complex and several residential estates around Batu Maung, Permatang Damar Laut and Permatang Tepi Laut.
However the water supply to the Penang International Airport and Bayan Lepas Free Trade Zone would not be affected, he said.
He advised affected domestic water consumers and traders to store adequate water during that period. — Bernama
