Breast cancer is the prevalent and said to be the most diagnosed cancer among women across the globe. Hence, early detection is important in the prevention of the severity and spreading of the cancer.
With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, Watsons Malaysia raises awareness on early detection of breast cancer among Malaysian women via its Watsons Pink Ribbon Campaign. The campaign was established in collaboration with The Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA).
During the campaign period which ends Oct 29, RM1 will be contributed by Watsons to BCWA for every RM50 and above purchases of participating brand products. Participating brands include Biore, Bio-essence, Blackmores, Cetaphil, Gatsby, GVC, Hada Labo, Kate, Lifebouy, Maybelline, Nano White, NH Detox, Nivea, Oral-B, Pure Beauty, Pantene and Safi.
Watsons members will receive a free RM10 voucher for use on their next purchase as a token of appreciation for supporting the campaign.
The pink ribbon which has become a symbol representing breast cancer awareness, is available as a magnet pin, and will be on sale at RM5 at selected Watsons and online stores. Purchase comes with free health checks and makeovers by Watsons’ experts. Proceeds from the pink ribbon magnet pin will also be donated to BCWA.
“Approximately one in 20 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, according to medical experts. However, early detection can save lives.
“According to medical experts, the five-year survival rate of Stage 1 breast cancer patients has reached up to 98%. Hence, all women should be educated on early detection of breast cancer,” said Watsons Malaysia managing director Caryn Loh.
Loh also shared that Watsons is proud to stand as a platform to communicate and educate its customers, “and let them know that they are not alone in facing the challenges of breast cancer, and that support is there for them.
“By collaborating with BCWA, we hope the donations channeled through the campaign will enable the association to do more to improve the quality of life for women with breast cancer, and to promote the right education about breast cancer to the community,” Loh added.
