KUALA LUMPUR: Contrary to popular belief that social media can be a distraction for students sitting for public examinations, Muhammad Ihsan Thaqif Bahter Nasir who excelled in his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2017 has proven that perception wrong.
Thanks to social media applications such as Whatsapp which helped him greatly in his studies, the former student of Parit Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Perak achieved 9A+ and Honours Award in the last International Baccalaureate (IB) semester exams in Banting Mara College (KMB).
"WhatsApp helps a lot because there are many notes, facts and information relating to SPM and IB that are shared through that application with teachers and friends. On top of that, it is in the form of soft copy.
So, I don't have to print, just download and read where I am, including while eating and in the toilet," he told Bernama after appearing as a guest of Bernama News Channel's Nine11 here today.
Muhammad Ihsan Thaqif, 18, is currently furthering his IB at KMB of obtaining excellent results in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Cambridge Programme when in Form Four.
For Muhammad Ihsan Thaqif, sitting for the SPM exams as a private candidate, a day before he had to sit for the IB semester exams was indeed very challenging for him.
Conceding that it was not easy to manage time for doing revisions on SPM and six IB level subjects simultaneously, he said time management was crucial for success.
Sharing his secret recipe for success, the Kuantan born lad said sacrificing his leisure time and investing more time in doing his revision has seen him performed well with excellent results in the SPM and IB.
The youngest child in his family, whose father is a doctor, Muhammad Ihsan Tahqif hoped to further his studies at Cambridge University, England, aspiring to become a scientist in the field of physics.
His success story went viral on social media when his picture was uploaded with the caption "'man from another planet" because of his excellent results in the SPM and IB by an unidentified Instagram user that was shared with many netizens, including Malaysian celebrity Neelofa.
Commenting on it, Muhammad Ihsan Tahqif said he was very touched and it inspired him to continue to excel in his chosen field. — Bernama
