Hung clings to lead at Taifong Open

Local hero Hung Chien-yao held a slim lead at the US$400,000 Taiwan Glass Taifong Open after a two-under 70 on Saturday moved him to 16-under.His advantage was cut to one shot by Thailand’s Ekpharit Wu, who charged up the leaderboard with a 65 that included a hole-in-one and an eagle.Ekpharit, who started the day six shots back, made his ace on the par-three eighth and nearly holed out for albatross on the 17th before tapping in for eagle.

Hung opens five-shot lead at Taifong Open

Local favourite Hung Chien-yao extended his lead to five shots at the halfway stage of the Taiwan Glass Taifong Open after firing a second straight seven-under 65. The 33-year-old reached 14-under at Taifong Golf Club, again producing the lowest round of the day. Thailand’s Poosit Supupramai sits second at nine-under after a 68, followed by compatriot Ekpharit Wu at eight-under.Five players are tied for fourth at six-under: Indonesia’s Jonathan Wijono, Australia’s Todd Sinnott, Sweden’s Charlie Lindh, Pakistan’s Ahmad Baig and Thailand’s Sarut Vongchaisit. India’s S. Chikkarangappa moved to five-under after a 70 to join Thai duo Charng-Tai Sudsom and Chanat Sakulpolphaisan.
