Guru wanita rugi RM890,000 ditipu sindiket phone scam

GEORGE TOWN: Seorang guru wanita kerugian RM890,000 selepas diperdaya sindiket penipuan “phone scam” yang mendakwa mangsa terlibat pengubahan wang haram, baru-baru ini.

Timbalan Ketua Polis Pulau Pinang Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin berkata wanita berusia 59 tahun yang bertugas sebagai guru di Pulau Pinang itu membuat laporan polis semalam, di Bahagian Siasatan Jenayah Komersial Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah Timur Laut.

“Pada 10 Mei lepas ketika berada di rumahnya di George Town, mangsa telah menerima pangilan telefon daripada nombor tidak dikenali, iaitu seorang lelaki yang memperkenalkan diri sebagai wakil sebuah bank dan memaklumkan terdapat penyalahgunaan kad kredit atas nama wanita berkenaan.

“Wanita itu menafikan memiliki kad kredit berkenaan sebelum panggilan disambungkan kepada seorang individu mengaku sebagai pegawai polis di Johor dan suspek memaklumkan mangsa terlibat dalam kes pengubahan wang haram,“ katanya dalam kenyataan malam tadi.

Beliau berkata suspek meminta menyerahkan duit miliknya untuk tujuan audit dan memaklumkan wang itu akan dipulangkan setelah siasatan selesai serta mengugut waran tangkap dikeluarkan jika gagal berbuat demikian.

Mohd Alwi berkata mangsa yang ketakutan telah melakukan sebanyak 27 transaksi pemindahan wang secara dalam talian ke 23 akaun berbeza sejak 19 Mei hingga 5 Jun, melibatkan jumlah keseluruhan RM890,000.
