Pencemaran sungai air batu di Melaka disiasat sepenuhnya

MELAKA: Kerajaan Melaka memberi jaminan siasatan menyeluruh akan dilaksanakan berhubung insiden pencemaran Sungai Air Batu berhampiran Kampung Paya Rumput, Sungai Udang.

Jabatan Alam Sekitar (JAS) Melaka telah diarahkan menjalankan siasatan segera selepas menerima laporan pada Selasa lalu.

Pemeriksaan awal menunjukkan perubahan warna air sungai menjadi hitam, dipercayai berpunca daripada pelepasan efluen oleh sumber yang masih disiasat.

Penduduk setempat mengaitkan kejadian ini dengan Tapak Pelupusan Sampah Sungai Udang, namun tiada pelepasan air larut resapan (leachate) dikesan semasa pemeriksaan.

JAS Melaka akan terus memantau dan mengambil sampel air secara berkala bagi memastikan pematuhan Standard Kualiti Alam Sekitar.

Tapak pelupusan tersebut berada di bawah pemantauan tetap, dan beberapa tindakan penguatkuasaan pernah diambil sebelum ini terhadap pengendalinya.

Kerajaan negeri menegaskan komitmen untuk memastikan keselamatan dan kesihatan penduduk tidak terjejas.
