Ulu Sungai Johor tercemar akibat kerosakan kolam takungan sedimen

Jabatan Alam Sekitar mengesahkan kerosakan kolam takungan sedimen di Ulu Sungai Johor akibat aktiviti korek pasir, menyebabkan pencemaran dan gangguan bekalan air.

JOHOR BAHRU: Jabatan Alam Sekitar (JAS) mengesahkan berlaku kerosakan pada kolam takungan sedimen yang dipercayai berpunca daripada aktiviti pengorekan pasir di Ulu Sungai Johor, Kota Tinggi.

Pengarah JAS Johor Dr Mohd Famey Yusoff berkata Badan Kawal Selia Air Johor (BAKAJ) telah mengarahkan operasi korek pasir itu dihentikan serta-merta.

Beliau menyatakan kerja pembaikan benteng sedang dijalankan segera tetapi sedimen yang telah terlepas tidak dapat dibendung kerana terus masuk ke sungai.

Tinjauan Bernama mendapati penduduk dan nelayan di Kampung Orang Asli Sayong Pinang, Kota Tinggi resah apabila ratusan ikan ditemukan mati akibat sungai berlumpur.

Laporan polis telah dibuat penduduk di Balai Polis Bandar Tenggara untuk tindakan segera terhadap pihak yang bertanggungjawab.

Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Kesihatan dan Alam Sekitar negeri Ling Tian Soon telah mengambil maklum mengenai insiden pencemaran tersebut.

Ranhill SAJ memaklumkan loji rawatan air di sepanjang sungai terpaksa menghentikan operasi susulan pencemaran air mentah.

Syarikat itu akan menggerakkan bantuan bekalan air alternatif menerusi lori tangki ke kawasan terjejas mengikut keperluan.

Kawasan terlibat gangguan bekalan air termasuk sebahagian Senai dan Skudai, Seelong dan Felda Linggiu, Kulai.

Kawasan terjejas turut meliputi Petri Jaya, Kota Tinggi dan Lima Kedai, Iskandar Puteri. – Bernama
