PETALING JAYA: Nearly 50,000 volunteers from The People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA), auxiliary fire services, police and civil defence will receive higher hourly allowances under Budget 2027, while RM2.3 billion has been allocated to build and maintain government quarters.
Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said volunteer personnel would receive RM9 per hour, while supervisors would be paid RM10.80 per hour, backed by an allocation of RM339 million.
“My sincerest appreciation goes to the 1.6 million civil servants for their dedication in fulfilling their duty to serve the nation,” he said when tabling the budget today.
Anwar said the RM2.3 billion housing allocation would cover quarters for police officers, doctors, military personnel, teachers and firefighters, while the Property Management Division would be upgraded into the National Property Department.
He added that more than RM500 million would be spent on new military family housing in Skudai, Johor, and quarters at immigration detention depots in Langkap, Perak, and Papar, Sabah, benefiting nearly 900 personnel.
