PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) led the nation’s participation at Expand North Star (ENS) and GITEX Dubai 2025, presenting Malaysia as a hub for innovation and technological advancement.
In a statement, MDEC said these platforms provided a high-profile stage to showcase the country’s cutting-edge solutions, engage with key regional players, and highlight the capabilities of Malaysian businesses across emerging sectors such as fintech, artificial intelligence and digital services.
It added that strong ties between Malaysia and the Middle East, particularly the United Arab Emirates, created strategic opportunities for Malaysian companies to tap into one of the region’s most dynamic digital economies.
MDEC played a central role in facilitating these engagements, ensuring that businesses could navigate the regional landscape effectively and access avenues for collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Through these initiatives, Malaysian companies explored new markets, tested innovative solutions, and strengthened their operational and strategic capacities, contributing to the broader development of digital ecosystems within the Middle East and North Africa region.
Fifteen Malaysian technology companies participated in ENS and GITEX Dubai, with eight joining as part of the official delegation. Their presence attracted significant interest from regional stakeholders, resulting in over RM500 million in digital export opportunities and over RM700 million in potential digital investments into Malaysia.
MDEC said this outcome highlights the effectiveness of the country’s coordinated approach, which combines government support, industry expertise, and entrepreneurial innovation to drive sustainable growth in the technology sector. The active involvement of startups, scale-ups, and established firms exemplifies Malaysia’s diverse and vibrant tech ecosystem.
MDEC said it will continue to drive Malaysia’s ambition to become Asean’s digital hub, championing initiatives that promote innovation, talent development and sustainable business growth.
Participation in ENS and GITEX Dubai reinforced the country’s commitment to digital transformation and demonstrated how Malaysian companies can leverage international platforms to accelerate development.
“MDEC’s participation at ENS and GITEX 2025 reflects our dedication to advancing Malaysia’s digital economy. These engagements highlight the strength of our technology ecosystem, with MD companies recording RM44.6 billion in approved investments as of August 2025, reflecting the strong confidence our investors and partners have in Malaysia’s capabilities. Our focus remains on creating a sustainable ecosystem that nurtures talent, empowers businesses, and ensures Malaysia continues to develop as a leading force in the technology landscape,” said MDECCEO Anuar Fariz Fadzil,.
