Wisma Putra confirms a Malaysian national missing in Jeddah since Jan 15, with consular officials coordinating search efforts with Saudi authorities.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Foreign Ministry has confirmed a Malaysian citizen was reported missing in Jeddah on January 15.

In a statement on Saturday, the ministry said its Consulate General initiated coordinated actions with local authorities immediately after receiving the report.

Officials were deployed to King Abdul Aziz International Airport to search based on the individual’s last known location.

The Consulate General facilitated a Malaysian travel agency and its local partner in lodging a formal police report in Jeddah on January 16.

“As of today, the Consulate General continues to engage closely with local authorities to expedite search efforts,” the ministry stated.

It is also providing consular assistance to the next of kin while maintaining constant contact with relevant parties.

Malaysians with relevant information are urged to contact the Consulate General in Jeddah via provided phone numbers or email.

The ministry stressed that specific details will only be disclosed to immediate family to respect privacy.

Malaysian actress Nadia Kesuma, whose real name is Nadia Kasumawati Abdul Karim, was reported missing while transiting at the same airport.

She was travelling from Kuala Lumpur to London on Thursday and could not be traced.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan earlier stated Saudi Immigration confirmed the actress had exited the airport.

She has been classified as a missing person after being untraceable for over 20 hours.
