Westports achieves improved results for second quarter and first half

KUALA LUMPUR: Westports Holdings Bhd’s net profit for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q2’26) rose to RM360.90 million from RM231.63 million in the same quarter a year ago.

Revenue improved to RM866.89 million during the quarter from RM691.06 million previously.

“In 2Q 2026, the group recorded operational revenue of RM808 million, a 33% increase compared to the corresponding quarter last year (2Q 2025). This was mainly attributable to higher revenue due to the tariff increase,” it said in a Bursa Malaysia filing today.

For the six months ended June 30, 2026, net profit advanced to RM687.40 million from RM454.09 million, while revenue climbed to RM1.76 billion from RM1.31 billion previously.

“The group generated operational revenue of RM1.60 billion for the first six months ended June 30, 2026, 30% higher than the same period last year, mainly attributable to higher revenue due to the implementation of the tariff hike and stronger value-added services revenue,” it said.

In a separate announcement, Westports declared a single-tier first interim dividend of 14.98 sen per ordinary share for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2026.

“The board has determined that the dividend reinvestment plan (DRP), which was approved by the shareholders of Westports at the annual general meeting of Westports held on May 8, 2025, will apply to 2.99 sen per Westports share, representing 20% of the 2026 interim dividend.

“The authority for the board to allot and issue new Westports shares in relation to the DRP was approved by the shareholders at the AGM held on May 14, 2026,” it added.

On prospects, Westports said regional transhipment volumes could be influenced more by how shipping lines navigate the evolving landscape, as well as by regional supply chain and economic requirements.

“The company currently expects overall container throughput to be roughly the same as the previous year and will provide updated guidance should these fast-evolving conditions materially affect the volume outlook,” it said.
