How to expose a cheater? Netizen shares a ‘toolkit’ for catching suspicious partners

A Threads user went viral after sharing a list of apps that can reveal cheating partners. Netizens joined in, adding their own “detective” tips for spotting infidelity online.

A user on Threads, asdfgh06547 recently went viral after sharing a list of apps for people could use to “detect cheaters”.

“Telegram. This is the easiest place for people to find other sex-crazed users to satisfy their lust,” they wrote.

The post went on to detail how Telegram’s “last seen” status can reveal a lot: “If it says ‘last seen recently’, that means they’ve been online within the last one or two days.

‘Last seen in a week’ means they probably haven’t opened it for three days or more. ‘Last seen long time ago’—either they haven’t opened it in ages or they’ve blocked you.”

They didn’t stop there. The post listed several more “detection tools” — email (“trace booking confirmations or shady app signups”), bank transactions (“you’ll see who gets the money, maybe even the mistress’s name”), Shopee (“some even buy gifts for their side piece there”), and the App Store or Google Play for installed apps.

The author didn’t mince words when calling out cheating men.

“You think no one knows? Staying up till dawn on Telegram, video calling other women while your wife and kids are asleep. It’s embarrassing.

“Yet somehow, in the eyes of your partner, you’re a handsome man — no wonder you’ve got the confidence to stray,” they lament.

“There’s no need to keep praising a man when he is not all that. Just be honest — if he gets offended, that’s on him.

“Some women rush to call a man ‘handsome’, not knowing he’s already made a fool of himself online. Peace never seems to follow people like that,” they added.

The original author clarified that the post wasn’t meant to “spill tea”, but came from real experience.

“Not trying to expose anyone, but from the evidence I’ve seen — when someone gets caught cheating, people usually only find out what’s on the surface. If you dig deeper, it’s often much worse. I’ve been through it myself,” they wrote.

The comment section quickly filled up with tips from other users.

One netizen, adilahadi, reminded others not to overlook X. “Some people run two accounts — one to look holy, another for something else,” she wrote.

“They can even use a second WhatsApp account, even if they’ve only got one number.”

Another user, anastasy4, shared a more technical approach. “I check Google history and the Google Maps timeline to see where they’ve been. For iPhone users, look at iCloud files, hidden photos, and Gmail,” she said.

“Most important is call history — WhatsApp and Telegram logs say a lot. And don’t forget TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook activity; you can see what they liked or commented on. Even the App Store or Play Store lists uninstalled apps with the date they were downloaded.”

The brutally honest post struck a nerve online — part rant, part reality check — and highlighted how, in the age of smartphones, digital traces tell no lies, especially in the case of cheating, or worse.
