AS millions of Malaysians prepare to head home for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the Ministry of Works has stepped up its road safety efforts by releasing the full list of Automated Awareness Safety System (AwAS) camera locations along the North-South Expressway (PLUS) — urging all motorists to drive responsibly throughout the festive travel period.
Announced via the ministry’s official social media channels, the advisory serves as a timely reminder for balik kampung travellers to stay within speed limits and remain alert on the road. The AwAS cameras, positioned at strategic points along the expressway, are designed to automatically detect and record traffic violations.
With holiday traffic expected to surge significantly in the coming days, the ministry emphasised that the surveillance system is not merely punitive — it is a proactive measure to safeguard every road user making the festive journey.
“Drive cautiously, obey the speed limit, and always be careful. It is better to be slow and arrive safely at your destination to celebrate with your loved ones,” the ministry stated.
