A Malaysian woman was left traumatised after waking up from her sleep to an unsettling discovery in the middle of the night.
Sharing her experience on Threads, Ika said she had been sleeping peacefully when she suddenly felt something biting her finger.
“I immediately woke up, turned on the light and lifted the pillow — and saw this thing,” she wrote. The “thing” turned out to be a centipede.
In a follow-up post, Ika shared a photo of the dead centipede alongside an insecticide spray, describing it as “the aftermath of a battle”.
“I sprayed the entire can until it was empty,” she said.
Many netizens sympathised with her frightening experience. One user, Hakimie, commented that even after the centipede was killed, it was still hard to feel at ease.
Replying to him, Ika said she remained disturbed, adding that her eyes kept darting around the room in fear.
Another user, @mijxdeng, shared a similar encounter. She said she once felt something uncomfortable inside her sweater while on her way to work but initially ignored it.
“When I reached my workplace, I felt something moving near my leg. It turned out to be a centipede crawling up. Luckily, it didn’t manage to bite me,” she said.
Ika later added that the incident happened at her rumah kampung (village house), with many netizens noting that such encounters are fairly common in rural areas.
