A Nasi Lemak stall in Nilai draws attention online with cute illustrated menus instead of regular and AI food images
IN an increasingly competitive food scene, creativity and originality are becoming key to capturing customers’ attention.
Proving this point, Nasi Lemak Kak Yati, a food stall in Nilai, has caught the eye of food delivery app users with its unusual yet appealing menu presentation.
Instead of displaying photographs of its dishes, the stall uses vibrant, minimalist illustrations to showcase its offerings.
Five varieties of nasi lemak, along with local snacks such as cekodok pisang, karipap and kuih kacang, as well as drinks, are colourfully hand-drawn on the menu.
One user commented that the illustrations were “cute” and far better than artificial intelligence (AI)-generated images, which have become increasingly common online.
Sofea, a regular customer, said the stall is her go-to choice largely because the illustrations are so amusing.
“The portions are big and the food is tasty as well,” she added.
While many netizens praised the creative approach, some said they would still prefer to see actual photos of the food before deciding to place an order online.
Others joked that they were unsure about ordering from Kak Yati, wondering whether the food would arrive looking exactly like the illustrated pictures.
