To make matters worse, the man explained, the woman “just looks like an ordinary girl,” yet she frequently brags about being pursued by many people and claims she stays with his brother “for love.”
“Hearing this, my brother wants to prove himself even more, giving her everything he has,” he wrote. “Every month, his entire salary goes toward her needs, while he survives on instant noodles, bread, and biscuits.” The brother works as an engineer, while the girlfriend works in sales.
Things took a turn for the worse when their parents even went so far as to give their son their hard-earned retirement savings — fully aware that the money would likely end up being spent on the girlfriend.
Despite their generosity, the man said, “Anything he buys for our parents, no matter how small, he later demands repayment.”
The girlfriend’s parents also reportedly tugged at his heartstrings by claiming financial struggles, prompting him to routinely buy them expensive gifts — while neglecting his own aging parents. Weekends and holidays are spent driving his girlfriend to her hometown, forcing his parents to take a bus to KL just to see him.
“We warned him not to lose himself in this relationship, but he got angry instead. During one argument, he said something that broke my heart: ‘I can live without my parents, but I cannot live without my girlfriend.’”
Hearing that, the man said, “I wanted to slap him awake.”
Since then, the brother’s relationship with the family has crumbled.
The man ended his post with a heartbreaking reflection: he doesn’t know when his brother will ever realise that the people who truly love him unconditionally are not those who ask for gifts, money, or favors — but the parents who have always sacrificed for him.
