PETALING JAYA: A yellow Perodua Myvi overturned in the middle of Jalan Kuching towards Selayang this morning, drawing widespread attention after images of the incident circulated on social media.
Footage shared on Threads showed the car lying upside down and partially obstructing traffic, forcing passing motorists to slow down.
The incident prompted online speculation about how the crash occurred, until a Threads user identifying himself as the Myvi driver came forward to explain his version of events.
Using the handle @brotherlybig, he claimed the collision was not his fault and urged social media users to refrain from making jokes about the car’s reputation as the “King”.
“I am the Myvi driver. It was not my fault. There is no need to comment things like ‘Is the King acting up again?’ I had already honked, but the other car still pulled out,” he wrote.
He also shared dashcam footage that appeared to show the moments before the collision.
In the video, the Myvi can be seen travelling along the left lane when a Perodua Axia coming from an exit lane moves into its path and collides with its side.
The impact sends the Myvi overturning into the middle lane, leaving it upside down and obstructing other vehicles.
Several social media users said the dashcam footage helped them understand how the accident happened, while others expressed concern for the driver and wished him a smooth resolution to the matter.
One user criticised the Axia driver, commenting that the vehicle had its own lane but had attempted to enter another. Other Threads users also praised the quick reflexes of a silver coupé driver, who appeared to swerve to avoid colliding with the overturned Myvi.
One user said: “The driver of the grey car can join F1 at Sepang next year. Your reflexes are seriously Formula 1-level!”
