@imrunazmi shared that the taxi driver had quoted him a staggering RM200 for a ride from KLIA to Damansara.

A Malaysian man has gone viral after sharing his shocking late-night encounter with a taxi driver at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

In a Threads post that has since gone viral, user @imrunazmi said he had reached KLIA at 2am.

He explained that he wanted to “support the abang teksi” waiting by the arrival gates.

“How much to Damansara?’” he queried the taxi driver who was sitting by the gate.

“He took a puff of his cigarette and said, ‘Oh, that’s far bro… RM200 can?’”

Curious, Imrun opened his e-hailing app — and was stunned to see the same trip costing just RM70.

“Waited five minutes for my Grab to arrive. That was it. Never again will I take a taxi if the price is like that,” he said.

The post quickly gained traction on social media, with netizens flooding the comments to share similar experiences.

“Happened to me too. From Mid Valley to KL East, RM80. With Grab, only RM25,” shared meadowpastriesandco.

“That’s still okay. For me, from TBS to One South (not even 10km), he wanted to charge RM60. His excuse was that it was already 3am. With Grab, it’s only RM12,” commented afiqzamanhuri.

“Back when I was studying in Perlis, I often went down to Kedah Airport. I asked a taxi how much to go to KTM Anak Bukit. RM25!!! Mind you, KTM is really close. At that time, Grab wasn’t available in Kedah yet, so I had to take it. After Grab arrived, do you know how much it charges? RM6,” said ftuxs.
