Assistant medical officer killed in four-vehicle Temerloh crash

A 43-year-old assistant medical officer died in a multi-vehicle collision on Jalan Jerantut-Temerloh, with police citing a trailer’s loss of control as the likely cause.

TEMERLOH: An assistant medical officer was killed in a four-vehicle collision on Jalan Jerantut-Temerloh this morning.

Temerloh district police chief ACP Mohd Nasyim Bahron said the victim, Sathiyan Raja Gopal, 43, died at the scene from severe injuries while driving a Proton Saga.

Preliminary investigations indicate a Perodua Alza stopped to turn right before being hit from behind by a trailer.

The impact forced the Alza into the opposite lane, where it collided with the Proton Saga before also being struck by a Toyota Hilux.

The driver of the Perodua Alza, a 42-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh.

Mohd Nasyim said the accident is believed to have been caused by the trailer driver’s negligence in failing to control the vehicle.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
