IF anyone could recreate the atmosphere of Admiral Zheng He’s 15th-century voyages, it would be globetrotting landscape artist Tan Kwank Liang. In conjunction with the second edition of the Commonwealth of World Chinatown (CWC) conference held in Penang from Sept 2 to 6, Tan, a China-based Singaporean, was commissioned by CWC co-founder Lee Khai to put together an art installation that portrayed the migration and dissemination of Chinese culture through maritime trade routes.
