Pahang government will consider a proposed railway for Cameron Highlands if it eases congestion and aids development, says Menteri Besar.

LIPIS: The Pahang government is prepared to study a proposal to build a railway line in Cameron Highlands if the project significantly benefits the people and local infrastructure development.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail (pic) stated that no official proposal for the project has been received by the state government so far.

“If it can provide convenience to the public and improve the infrastructure there, we will consider it,” he said at a press conference here.

Recent rumours have circulated about a proposed railway connecting Tanah Rata, Brinchang and Blue Valley to address severe road congestion in the popular tourist destination.

Speaking at an event today, Wan Rosdy also detailed the state’s Pahang Makmur Initiative allocations.

He said the state government has allocated RM6.97 million for 697 mosques and suraus for Friday prayers across Pahang this year.

Distributions for the Central and East Pahang zones totalling RM5.21 million were made in September and November.

The distribution for the West Pahang zone, involving 176 mosques and suraus with an allocation of RM1.76 million, is now underway.

Through the Pahang State Budget 2026, the initiative will continue with an increased allocation of RM84.59 million, up from RM50.54 million this year.

It will cover four clusters: Student, Religious, B40 and General, encompassing 24 initiatives.

Under the religious cluster alone, nine initiatives are planned for next year with an allocation of RM7.95 million.

These include contributions of RM10,000 to mosques and RM4,000 to suraus, a RM200 death benefit, and RM750 in pocket money for Pahang haj pilgrims.

Wan Rosdy also thanked Tenaga Nasional Berhad for its corporate social responsibility contribution of RM15,000 to 150 students of Sekolah Kebangsaan Keledek here.
