Azizulhasni supports Green Ribbon movement on mental health awareness

KUALA LUMPUR: National track cyclist Mohd Azizulhasni Awang (pix) has pledged to support the Green Ribbon Movement, to create awareness on mental health.

The former world champion and Tokyo Olympics gold hopeful said mental illnesses affected 19 per cent of the adult population, 46 per cent of teenagers and 13 per cent of children each year.

It could be rising even higher during the Covid-19 pandemic, he said.

“If you know someone that deals with a mental illness, show them your support and be empathetic. A simple hug, a touching letter of appreciation, or even ‘I’m here if you ever need me’ can really go a long way for someone.

“Mental health awareness is a very important issue, and let’s show your support by joining the Green Ribbon Movement (https://greenribbongroup.com/) led by Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Iman Afzan @imanabdullah. Thank you and well done for your initiative and I’m so proud to be part of this movement,” he posted in his social media accounts.

The Green Ribbon Movement is a social enterprise founded by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s eldest daughter, Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Iman Afzan.

It aims to empower stakeholders involved in raising awareness of the monumental mental health issues people currently face and in creating viable solutions through advocacy, fundraising and collaboration.- Bernama
