KUALA LUMPUR: The Youth and Sports Ministry has clarified that dragon and lion dance groups do not need a licence from it.

In a statement issued here today, the ministry said any cultural activity, including the dragon and lion dance, do not need a licence as they do not come under the Sports Development Act 1997.

“The ministry would like to rectify the statement made by certain parties that the dragon and lion dance need to have a licence from it.

“The ministry through the Sports Commissioner’s Office only monitors sports activities. Any further questions on this issue can be referred to the ministry,” it said. — Bernama
