Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has taken the wraps off the Honda 0 α (Alpha) prototype at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, introducing the latest addition to its growing range of next-generation electric vehicles. This new model joins the futuristic Honda 0 lineup as a key entry point for customers into the brand’s new electric era.
Set to be displayed throughout the duration of the show, the Honda 0 α is designed as a compact SUV that seamlessly fits into both urban and natural environments. It continues the design and engineering philosophy first seen in the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV, which were unveiled earlier this year at CES 2025. Unlike those flagship models, the 0 α serves as a “gateway model” — more accessible yet still showcasing the same level of sophistication, innovation, and environmental awareness that define the Honda 0 Series.

The 0 α has been developed under the guiding principles of “Thin, Light, and Wise,” the core philosophy of the Honda 0 Series. These principles focus on maximising efficiency through lightweight engineering, clever design, and advanced technology. The result is a vehicle that offers sleek styling, excellent interior space, and refined usability, all while delivering the practicality and confidence expected of an SUV.
Visually, the Honda 0 α carries a low-slung yet wide stance, creating a profile that feels both agile and planted. The design team has managed to achieve this low height without sacrificing ground clearance, a key challenge for electric SUVs. Its proportions give it a modern and athletic look, while maintaining the stability and strength associated with Honda’s SUV DNA.
One of the standout features of the 0 α is its distinctive exterior treatment. The front and rear of the vehicle incorporate full-screen design elements that integrate components usually separated in conventional cars. At the front, the headlights, charging lid, and illuminated Honda emblem are all embedded within a sleek “screen area,” giving the SUV a futuristic face with seamless functionality. The rear continues this theme with a U-shaped lighting signature that combines the tail, reverse, and indicator lamps into one unified visual element. It’s both elegant and purposeful, creating a cohesive design language across the Honda 0 lineup.

The cabin, meanwhile, has been designed with comfort and openness in mind. Thanks to the “Thin” packaging concept, the 0 α offers a surprisingly spacious interior despite its compact proportions. The goal was to provide a serene and roomy environment that encourages connection — between passengers, and between people and the world outside.
Honda has confirmed that the production version of the Honda 0 α will be introduced globally, beginning with Japan and India in 2027. The model will serve as an accessible introduction to the Honda 0 range, appealing to customers looking for a clean, modern EV that captures the brand’s next chapter in electric mobility.
