“The goods were found to have been imported without an import permit as required under current laws and regulations. As such, the consignment has been detained for further investigation,” it said.
AKPS stressed that any non-compliance or attempt to import goods through the country’s entry points without valid documentation constitutes an offence under Section 11(1) of the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Act 2011 [Act 728].
Upon conviction, those involved could be fined up to RM100,000 or jailed for up to six years, or both.
